Japanese People like cosplaying. The second place Japanese opening to cosplay, running of course behind Haruhi, seems to be another anime called Lucky Star.

I think I found a 3rd item to add to that list yesterday.
I went to the shooting range yesterday with some guys form work…Ok ok, now I’m sure a lot of you have been to the range before and say it didn’t make you feel manly at all. You didn’t let me finish. I went to the range and got to try a SHOTGUN. It’s not even the shooting of the damn thing that makes you feel all emasculated (that part actually probably takes away from the whole experience =Þ).
Let’s just go over the 3 major steps of the process in detail.
1. Loading the mofo
We used a pump action shotgun that held 4 shells. It was a bit daunting handling that big hunk of metal, but the sound of the shells sliding in making the small click click as you loaded her up readying her for battle make up for it. Then there’s the first pump signifying that she’s battle ready. Chick-chick. Locked and loaded baby. +2 Manliness
2. Shooting the thing
Heft her up and brace her good against your shoulder. Nevermind the akward feel of the whole thing. Brace up real tight and pull the trigger…POW! You just made a hole in your target and the shotgun just tried to give you a good punch in the shoulder. +2 Manliness for the hole and -1 Manliness for the shock of recoil.
3. The most satisfying part…It’s the PUMP ACTION RELOAD.
There’s just something about pumping that shotgun. The chick-chick sound it makes. The smoking shell that flies out the side. The satisfactory hole you just left in that innocent target (that isn’t shooting back). You play it back in slow motion in your mind +A bajillion Manliness
After 10 shots with the thing I was satisfied though. After the 6th shot my shoulder said “Hey! I’m starting to hurt” Sucking it up and taking my last 4 shots of manliness I put down the gun and went back to my former self.
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
As a fan of the popular Series The Wheel of Time, I mourn the death of Robert Jordan. Prayers to his family and the many fans that wonder what will become of Rand al’Thor.
Some personas you might run into playing ball. I’ve been guilty of #9 myself. I think they should add a always gets hurt persona in there somewhere (that’d be me too).
So I’ve been running for the past month or so just to get back into shape.
While looking at some triathlon sites I was reading that some people run in some special way. The two main methods I noticed were the Chi method and the POSE method of running.
Reading a bit more about the pose method over at the pose site, which is unfortunately kinda crappy and cluttered, the method really seems to make a lot of sense.
This past weekend I went with Tiff and some friends we both knew to the Brandi Carlile concert at The Fillmore in SF. If you don’t know her it’s ok, I didn’t either. She became popular when Grey’s Anatomy played one of her songs.
As I’d never been to the Fillmore before I wasn’t sure what to expect. Actually, I was hoping to have seats of some sort, but there were very few seats and they were first come first serve. Thus we were standing for the whole concert which wasn’t too bad. The Fillmore is actually a really great place to see someone perform on account of the size of the place. Even if you’re way in the back you’re really damn close to the stage.
First thing I noticed, there was a large contingency of Lesbians at the concert. I later would find out that Brandi is also a Lesbian and thus that explained the large number of them there that night. I had actually heard of Brandi while listening to Fresh Air on NPR one afternoon. An interesting fact about her is that she’s a yodeler…like really. Unfortunately she didn’t yodel for us (she did on Fresh Air tho).
Second thing, her lead guitarist and bassist are twins! Their names are Tim and Phil Hanseroth, but I can never remember Phil’s name so when I refer to them I say Tim and Bim. They have the same shiny shaved heads too so they really just look the same.
Third thing, her band had a cellist in it too. Josh was an emo looking kid from the area. I’m not sure if he’s an official part of the band, but he was playing with them that night.
Bonus item: We got one of the guitar picks she used, as she would toss them out to the crowd every few songs. Bonus!
All in all she’s really got some great vocals and a set of somewhat depressing songs. I recommend you check her out. Her style really isn’t really here or there…she’s like rock/alternative folk/country style I guess.
My computer that is. I’m glad that apple released some new iPods, not that I own or plan to own one anytime soon. But I do use iTunes to listen to my music and podcasts. Everytime some new ipods come out I have to update my iTunes…then I have to restart my computer.
This morning I woke up and remembered an embarrassing sex story. Everyone has embarrassing sex stories, I hope.
Once, a girl and I were in bed together, masturbating. She was on her back, naked, touching herself, and I was above her, mostly naked, doing the same. I was eighteen or nineteen years old, and all I could think about was coming on her breasts.
The whole story is in the link. Jump in at the 4th text block.
After a really long week this past 3 day weekend was a much needed treat.
Saturday:
Since there was no bball I decided to check out spinning with Tiff. She says they never check and she was right, they don’t. It was taught by a slightly older lady with giant thighs. As with all things strenuous I was expecting to have a pretty tough time even though I’ve been running the past few weeks. The reality was that I don’t really remember the middle part of the class. I was trying too hard not to pass out. There were certain moments when I get really lightheaded and clammy and really just wanted to lay down outside for a bit. Instead I turned the resistance down and just concentrated on pedaling real slow. By the time I felt back to normal there was only 15 mins left in the class.
Verdict: Tough, but I think if I kept going I’d get a pretty good cardio workout without passing out.
We caught a showing of Superbad at night. Man it was funny. Really funny. Like a mix of 40 yo virgin and American Pie or something…anyways watch it.
Later that night Tiff was trying to open a bottle of Tejava to drink and couldn’t so she had me try. I couldn’t either. Usually the bottles aren’t that hard to open, but every once in a while the cap just doesn’t want to come off. I’ve experienced the same thing at work. Being stubborn I kept trying.
The Result: 1 opened Tejava bottle, 1 blister on my thumb and a little bit of my middle finger chunked out by the metal top.
Tiff decided to write an email to Tejava to complain about their caps haha.
Sunday:
Tiff’s friend was up in the area so we hung out for a bit and got some lunch. Nice guy. After lounging around due to the heat night time came around and I decided to catch up with my Heroes episodes since I hadn’t watched since ep 10 or 11. Tiff said that she wasn’t really interested in watching it, but as I continued watching I found her sitting next to me watching it. We ended up watching till 5…am.
Monday:
After waking up at noon we got some lunch and finished up the last few Heroes eps. Deciding that I needed some exercise to wake myself up we went to my work area so we could take a walk (and also let me check up on some work stuff.) Surprisingly almost all the finance devs were in as well as some devs from my side. Guess there really is no such thing as a company shutdown here.
I hope you guys had a more productive weekend than I did =)
